Health and Humanities: Disability Studies

Objectives
To introduce students to Health Humanities, a new interdisciplinary field of study that explores the relationship between the arts and humanities and human health and illness.
Learning Outcomes
- Encourage students to discover and analyze the multiple ways in which the humanities have increasingly been recognized and used as a tool towards better holistic healthcare.
- Explore issues related to empathy, power and fairness in contemporary medicine to better understand and enhance the pursuit of health.

About the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences
The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) is our newest Faculty in HKBU formed on 1st July 2024. Embarking upon the Arts' 62-year and Social Sciences' 53-year of legacies and academic foundations, the new FASS strives to lead the multiple arts and social sciences disciplines to cultivate a vibrant and diverse milieu that fosters transdisciplinary research, students' creativity and empathy.
