EXPLORING THE WORLD THROUGH JOURNALISM

Programme delivered by the School of Communication

Objectives
 

This programme is engaging and interactive, helping students understand how journalism connects with the information we receive every day. It will provide students with a unique perspective on how journalistic practices and principles influence daily news. Students will discover the importance of journalism in our society and how it helps us understand what's happening around us. Through this programme, students can explore how journalists turn facts into stories, the mechanics of broadcast journalism, and the playful side of financial reporting.

Learning Outcomes
  

By joining our programme, students will:

  • enhance the ability to evaluate news media critically and understand the role of journalism in influencing public conversations.
  • apply the journalism concepts to their understanding of daily events.
  • have the chance to create their own broadcast content and engage in interactive games and activities that bring financial journalism to life.

  • For Hong Kong Secondary School S4 and S5 students.
  • 3 sessions of face-to-face lectures will be conducted in Chinese (Cantonese) and English.

The School of Communication at Hong Kong Baptist University was originally founded in 1968. It provides a comprehensive range of programmes in communication available in Hong Kong at the undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Within the four-year undergraduate curriculum for the Bachelor of Communication (Honours) Programmme, the School offers three choices of major to follow the General Education and core communications courses.
